Journalism built by workers,
with our community,
for Pittsburgh.
Donate today to lift up worker-centered and community-centered journalism in Pittsburgh!
The Pittsburgh Alliance for People-Empowered Reporting (PAPER) was formed by Post-Gazette workers and community supporters following the PG's retaliatory announcement that it would be closing after finally being held accountable for its many violations of federal labor law.
We resolved to research alternatives to the Block-owned PG that Pittsburgh deserves: A daily news publication that engages more effectively and sustainably as a source of communication and connection, reflecting the concerns of working-class people in the region.
What we've found is that a worker- and community-owned daily news co-op gives us the best chance to live up to and deliver on our values. We also need your help to make this vision a reality. Will you donate today to lift up worker-centered journalism in Pittsburgh?
The Venetoulis Institute's anti-union purge of the Post-Gazette has only hardened our resolve and further emphasized the need for us all to own our news together.
Funds for PAPER go into an account separate from all other operations of the Newspaper Guild of Pittsburgh with the consent of the community supporters and union journalists that run PAPER together.
Money you donate will go toward business planning, legal fees, hired expertise, printed materials, renting space, and scaling up an actual newsgathering operation.
